Blues: Sergio Toppi 1990

Blues exists as both a beautiful 32 page comic and a commentary on American attitudes to blues music in the 80’s using a main character of “Honeylips” to act as his vessel of blues music and Black america, having a killer chase him down throughout the story to represent the American distain for Blues music within the 60’s and 70s.

Blues’s counterpart story the heir follows Voodoo mythology, playing upon the Italian audience of his stories ignorance towards voodoo thinking upon it as an evil or as the unknown.
